Physical traits of the Anizzah
Rumored to have descended directly from Vezhof himself, the Anizzari are deemed to be the Lords and Ladies of Southern Persia. Sharing various traits from a mashup of other desert breeds, such as the Marwari and Akhal-Teke, the Anizzah are the epitome of elegance.
They are built tall and lean. Long, equine legs end with hardened hooves well-suited for traversing desert sands. Mares will often stand anywhere from 5'4"-5'6" tall, and stallions around 5'8". Nobility in the bloodlines will often add another 1-2 ft to their height. Likely due to a gigantism trait passed down from the beginnings of their lineage.
Sporting a variety of lightly-colored coats; the one unifying feature of Anizzah are the darker markings on their arms and legs. Barring is often present between the two colors, and is frequently darkened with paints and dyes. Cremello, Perlino, and palomino colorations are frequently found, though a wide variety of colors are found.
Manes and tails are typically lighter than the Anizzah's coat. Often, the mane and tail are bleached to near-white for fashion reasons. Tails are traditionally long, and braided during special occasions. The Manes of nobles are braided into extravagant hairstyles. Often ornamented with beads and coils of precious metals. Though the changes in styles vary widely depending on the economic changes, and the seasons.
In enslaved Anizzah, the ears will be pierced with a large golden tag, that shows their owner's insignia. Slaves are typically well treated, as the appearance of the slave shows your wealth. A slave unmarred with bruises or cuts implies a slave so well trained, that it does not require punishment. While this thought is noble indeed, the majority of punishments are mental, or light enough that they do not leave marks. Anizzari slaves are often decorated with anklets and bracelets and bells. Typical slave attire is generally a sheer gauzy silk robe. Underneath the the robe, mares will wear a band of silks to cover their breasts, and a short skirt to cover their decency. Males will wear shorts underneath their robe.
Fashion among freefolk will vary, but often consist of patterned silks, cottons, and wools. The Madder root, a crimson dye native to India, is commonly used to dye the strands before they are woven into designs. Reds and purples are popular, and are made with a variety of rare and exotic ingredients that are purchased from the far east. Piercings that cover the ears, as well as throughout the body, are very common. The jewelry is typically gold. Studs and hoops are popular styles, and recently precious stone studs have circled back into style. A lack of trade between the middle, and far east, has caused the price of Lapis Lazuli to skyrocket. This has seen to a recent rise of Lapis studded jewelry, and a rise in the popularity of silk-based clothes.
